Volunteer of the Month

Steve Kucerak is our distinguished Volunteer of the Month for April.  For more than two years Steve has been an invaluable volunteer with our Veteran Program.  Laurie Ciavardini, Veteran Program Manager says, “Steve has been an asset to the Veteran program. It’s always an honor to have a fellow Veteran serve as a volunteer and he is a wonderful role model to our Veteran participants. He brings a warm and friendly energy to us every Friday. We are very lucky to have him.”

How did you find Endeavor, and how long have you been a Volunteer?

I learned about Endeavor from Laurie when she talked about it at a veterans meeting in Katonah. I have been a volunteer for about two years.

What surprised you about being a Volunteer at Endeavor?

How spiritually rewarding being a volunteer is.  Also I was surprised about the effect horses can have on a person’s mental health.

Why would you encourage others to Volunteer here?
It’s such a satisfying experience and a lot of fun.

Were you a horse person prior to volunteering at Endeavor?
I always liked to look at them but never had any experience with them.  Maybe a horse ride when I was a kid.

Do you have a favorite horse?
No, how can you choose between such beautiful animals!

We can't thank you enough, Steve!

Gary is a barn volunteer and comes to Endeavor every Saturday morning to help up keep our paddocks clean! He’s very dependable and enjoys being outside with our herd.

Jake B is an incredibly dedicated volunteer who always shows up willing to help and enthusiastic!

Ellen is an awesome volunteer as a side walker, leader, and with our equine assisted learning groups.

Kathy has volunteered with Endeavor for years. She’s incredibly dedicated to the mission and hands on with all of our programs and around the farm. As one participant said, “I just love Kathy!” and we could not agree more!
