Serving Those Who Serve Us
Since June of 2016, Endeavor has been working with veterans and active duty service members from the surrounding area to provide services that aim to help reintegrate them back into civilian life. Every Monday morning, a group of 10-15 veterans and active duty service members arrive on the Endeavor farm from the Montrose VA Facility in Montrose, NY. The veterans and service members participate in therapeutic horseback riding, ground horsemanship, and The EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) Model of experiential equine-assisted psychotherapy with the aid of licensed mental health professionals. Our veterans are both male and female and range in age from 23 to 67 years of age. This program is offered to Veterans free of charge and is sponsored by Hearts 4 Heroes: United States.
It is our extreme honor to work with these men and women who have given so much of themselves, and our pleasure to have them on the farm. We so look forward to their sessions, and the Endeavor staff truly loves Monday mornings! To accommodate such a large group, Endeavor volunteers and staff walk over three horses from a neighboring farm to participate in the program. If you see us walking down Succabone Road, make sure to wave hello!
